In the fiscal year 2002, the activities of AEN were aimed to form an alliance between Japanese organizations and their counterparts in Asian countries through contents and experiments.

Content of activities
To follow the trends of e-Learning in Asian countries, a survey research project was conducted. In July 2002, our first international conference, AEN Conference 2002, was held, where the AEN Tokyo Statement was adopted, an agreement to establish a cooperative framework for e-Learning among member countries. An experimental project was carried out with the cooperation of universities and industries of Japan and other Asian countries, accordingly to the agreement.

With these in mind, the objective for this year's activities will be to promote standardization and content distribution, and to assist the effective development of human resources.
